Child Advocacy Center

Forensic Interviews

All forensic interviews are scheduled by appointment at our building at 427 Campbell Street in downtown Geneva, Illinois. Our building, which resembles a house, provides a safe, child-focused environment to reduce any further stress or discomfort.

All interviewers are trauma-informed professionals who are committed to meeting children where they are. The CAC process ensures that every reported case of child abuse in Kane County is adequately addressed and investigated according to National Children's Alliance (NCA) standards. At the Kane County Child Advocacy Center, our bilingual staff members ensure that every child is able to tell their story to somehow who can clearly understand and support them in their native language.

It is a child's right to be interviewed by a trauma-informed forensic interviewer in a safe environment.

Recounting traumatic events can be difficult and uncomfortable for anyone, especially children who may not yet have the words or understanding to communicate their experience. The Kane County Child Advocacy Center is dedicated to protecting and supporting every child throughout the entire process.

HB 3462 WAS SIGNED INTO LAW BY GOVERNOR PRITZKER ON AUGUST 20, 2021 AND BECAME EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2022.

This law amends the Bill of Rights for Children by providing that EVERY child reported to DCFS or police as a victim of sexual assault or sexual abuse has the right to a forensic interview conducted by a trained child forensic interviewer from an accredited Children's Advocacy Center according to the Children's Advocacy Center Act, when such service is available.

ALL children have the right to be heard and directed toward healing and that's what Children's Advocacy Centers do!

Every child in Illinois, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, religion, family income, or zip code should have access to the best possible response to allegations of child abuse, including well-trained, trauma-informed, professional investigators and treatment providers.
