Who We Are

The Kane County Child Advocacy Center (KCCAC) was established in 1994 to serve children of Kane County who have been sexually or severely physically abused. The Center is a house in downtown Geneva, Illinois, a child-friendly environment that provides a safe, confidential space for children and families.

Located at 427 Campbell Street in downtown Geneva, the Kane County Child Advocacy Center is dedicated to creating a child-focused space where respect, confidentiality, and upholding the rights of every child is our priority.

All reports of child abuse are referred to the Kane County Child Advocacy Center (KCCAC) through the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), or by direct referral from one of the police departments in Kane County.

The Kane County Child Advocacy Center investigates all reported cases of child abuse in Kane County and ensures coordination and cooperation among all agencies and resources. A Child Advocacy Center (CAC) increases the efficiency and effectiveness of trauma-informed services, minimizes the stress created by the investigatory and judicial processes, and ensures that effective treatment is provided to all child victims and their families.

Child Advocacy Centers are a safe space for children to speak and be heard in the language they feel most comfortable using. At the KCCAC, bilingual Spanish-speaking professionals are available to provide the best possible support and culturally-informed care for child victims and family members.

CAC services and resources include, but are not limited to:

  • Child sensitive interviews conducted by trained professionals.
  • MERIT medical specialists available for physical examinations.
  • Mental health care provided for victims and family members.
  • Referrals to outside agencies for additional services and assistance.
  • Advocacy through all stages of the process.

Child Advocacy Centers provide a safe location to conduct forensic interviews with children and affected family members to appropriately investigate reported child abuse.

A team of specially-trained professionals meet children where they are and protect them from further harm by reducing the number of times they have to disclose their abuse. Additional services are provided and referred to victims and affected family members.

Illinois Child Advocacy Centers
served 14,241 children in 2023.

Of those children, 10,568 received
